The Premiership 2011/12

The Premiership 2011/12

So the Premiership has now kicked off and all teams apart from Spurs and Everton have no shown what they are likely to be made of this coming season.  What this also means is we can now make bets on certain outcomes too.  Why now and not Saturday morning?  Simple really - the manager has shown how his teams are going to play and there is form to play around with.  Yes Man City did play Swansea 2nite but its more the way they played.  Yes Arsenal were down to 10 men for some of the game and Cesc Fabregas has just left but did they want to beat Newcastle?  Was the hunger there?  No.

The League
So, DO NOT BET ON ARSENAL this season.  You never know what you are going to get.  However, Manchester City are definatley going to be a force and at 7-2 to win the league, this is definatley a bet worth going for.  Their manchester counterparts are really the only competition as Chelsea and Liverpool simply ran out of ideas and strategy to win at the weekend and Arsenal, well the less said the better really.  A bet on Utd however is too small to bother so if you dont fancy City, then stay out of this market.

Top Goalscorer
Sergio Aguero also looked like a man possessed today - 4.8-1 to be top premier league goalscorer is another good bet.  Will he win?  Maybe.  Will he be top 3?  Yes, without a doubt.  Rooney will also be up there too and at 7.2-1 he will worth a punt.  However, this is a tricky  market, and until Carlos Tevez' future is decided and Chelsea's front line start scoring i.e Torres Drogba Anelka and Sturridge (and I guess Kalou too) it will be tough to choose a clear third.  However, my money is on Sergio Aguero with Rooney a close second and Torres a distant third.
Betting a £100 on all three will bag you the following;

£280 profit on Aguero
£520 profit on Rooney
£750 profit on Torres

though I'd rather double the bet on Aguero to win £710, increase Rooney's stake to £150 earning £780 and sticking the rounded £100 on Torres to win £600.

The risks.  Drogba 25-1, Bent 14.5 - 1, RVP 9.5-1 and other hopefuls Suarez 11-1 Carroll 22-1 Hernandez 10-1 and Dzeko 23-1.  One of these, Suarez especially could really perform, but can they score more than the mighty Mancunians star strikers?  I think not.

Aguero and Rooney are just a different class and playing in teams that are looking to score countless goals this season, the buck is likely to stop at one of these fine young stars.

If you are still in any doubt, wait.  Maybe until the next round of games and see who scores for Chelsea against West Brom, how Man Utd and Liverpool shape up to play Tottenham and Arsenal respectively and if Aguero continues at the Reebok.  Though if Aguero does score again, the odds will fall quicker than Arsene Wenger's piggy bank.

The Mens Wimbledon Final 2011

The Mens Wimbledon Final 2011

So did you take my advice?  If you did you could have had a nice little earner!!

I will be watching the Mens Wimbledon final 2011 knowing that I will either be making £440 from a Djokovic win or £558 from a Nadal win.

Yes Federer went out but like i said what are the chances of none of the top 3 seeds not winning?  And two of them are in the final so I rest my case.

Betfair are currently offering the bets odds at 1.69 for Nadal to win which would be my preferred choice but to win a tidy £34 you will need to bet £50 which frankly I am not sure if its worth it?  Djokovic has been in exceptional form and has only lost 1 game this year.  But Nadal is playing exceptional tennis too...
That said, I'd rather stick my money on Nadal on a heads up than Arsenal to win at home to Everton or Liverpool which would probably fetch near enough 7/10 anyway.

I'll leave this one up to you...

Enjoy the finals over the weekend!

Wimbledon 2011 - A simple bet on Nadal, Federer and Djokovic to win

Wimbledon 2011

Such a pity that the football season is currently over but fear not, Wimbledon is upon us and its certainly started off to a flying start!

Venus and Date-Krum played an exhilarting match on Centre court that was almost as good as the Godfather, after a patch of poor British weather, Murray dominated his game with a great grasp of the court, and Berdych showed he is a worthy contender this year too.  Or is he?

Well, such is the dominance of tennis recently that only Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have won a major tournament in the past 5 or so years.  Incredible!  So I thought it might be an idea to place a bet on 1 of  them to win.  It turns out that you can place a bet on all 3 of them at Betfair and still generate a profit.  Now that surely has to be a good solid safe bet?  If you dont believe me lets do the math together...

The following example is based on spending £100 on all 3 to be outright winner

Live odds on Betfair as of 08:36am Thursday 23rd June 2011
Federer is 11/5 to win
Nadal is 11/4 to win
Djokovic is 7/2 to win

If Federer wins Revenue = £320 (includes stake money)
                        Cost       = £200
                        Profit      = £120

If Nadal wins Revenue = £370 (includes stake money)
                     Cost       = £200
                     Profit      = £170

If Djokovic wins Revenue = £450 (includes stake money)
                          Cost       = £200
                          Profit      = £250

So by betting on all three of these hot shot #1 #2 and #2 seeds, you will still generate a profitable revenue.  The question is how much are you willing to risk?

Before you do anything though just remember;
Andy Murray is British and #4 seed
Tomas Berdych knocked out Federer last year
Juan Martin Del Potro is back on form
Robin Soderling can beat anyone on his day

Even so, for none of the top 3 seeded players to win the Wimbledon 2011 mens singles title this year would be an absolute shock.

Your gain is my aim so good luck!

Betfair

Its been a while! For some reason my attention has been diverted elsewhere.

However, I have still been betting like crazy and have certainly made a lot of money!

Betfair seem to consistently offer the best odds so my advice would be to go their as your first point of call.

I have to say the recent Man U vs Barca final earnt me well over £110 on a £100 bet. It just seemed to good to miss.

Anyway, thats enough from me until the new season starts...

It's been a while...

Ok now I know I havent posted anytning for a while but I came across some odds the other day, albeit after the game and I thought to myself, what a fantastic bet that would have been.

Andy Carroll to score first and Newcastle to win 1-0 at the Emirates.  Tough bet, but defo worth a punt and even more so when the odds are 125-1!!

Now thats £1250 for just a £10 stake.  Incredible.

Unfortunately my bet on Wednesday night, Tevez 1-0 was only 25-1 and obviously didnt come in.  Ah well.

I will have to look at this weekends fixtures and call the shots once again...

Until then

Dave

Ps I am still top of my fantasy football league by about 100 points -  football genius?  you decide!

The Premiership 18th September 2010

So if you followed my advice last weekend you would have lost about £2 and to be honest it could have been worth if Fulham had not scored in the last minute.

This weekend my money would go on Everton to beat Newcastle and Stoke to beat West Ham.

Daves Football Tips on The Premiership today - September 11th 2010

Hello readers!

For once its been a nice international break.  A 4-0 win for England against Bulgaria and an even more impressive 3-1 victory for England vs Switzerland.  England are already well on their way to qualifying for Euro 2012, not that it will do much good...

But international football is not where the money is at.  Instead look no further than the premiership today.  There are two bets that take my fancy.

The first is Fulham to beat Wolves at home.  Fulham, now under Mark Hughes are still a very tasty unit with Zamora wanting to prove his worth having just signed a new contract.  Wolves, although dogged and have several workhorses in every position, they simply dont have the class of Fulham and will struggle on their travels.

Paddy Power is best with Fulham at 5/6 and I'd recommened sticking a score on this one.  That's a win of £16.66 for a £20 stake totalling £36.66 returned.

The second bet is Tottenham. With Defoe and Dawson picking up long-term injuries and Crouch just coming back from one, there is a strong feeling that Tottenham are going to struggle, especially away from home as they often do.  However, there opponents are just no match for the North London outfit whose squad has improved remarkabably over the past year or so.  They have enough matchwinners like Bale, Modric, Keane (on his day) and Lennon to take the game to West Brom and win up in the Midlands.

So again with Paddy Power at evens, stick another £20 on Spurs to be victorious.  That's a £20 win for a £20 stake and therefore £40 returned.

So thats a total of £36.66 of winnings from a £40 stake.  Not a bad days work.

You can of course do an accumulator of the two bets - this gives you odds of 3.66-1 giving you £73.33 returned.  However, there is nearly as much to gain as there is to lose so I'd prefer to run to single bets on this.

Re my previous post of West Brom to be relegated, West Brom have dropped from 11/10 to 10/11 and with some tough encounters including Tottenham today, expect these odds to drop further.  If you havnt done so already, stick some money on West Brom to go down and you'll be in for a sure fire win!

That's enough of DavesFootballTips for one day - I have to get ready for my dose of Premiership football starting with Everton vs Manchester United - that should be a cracking game!  My prediction?  1-1 but this one is hard to call so personally I wouldnt bother.

Happy betting!

Dave
